Wondir - Free Q&A

First it was wikipedia and its brethren... now its wondir...

The former offers free information - an encyclopedia(way more than official ones offer).
The latter lets people answer other people's questions - for free.

For free answers to most questions on numerous topics Google Answers is also another option. You can get a free look at answers to questions that have been answered by Google staff (for which someone might have paid !)

Thanks for the post. I blogged a bit about why Wikipedia and Wondir are often brought up together in my post today here, where I referenced your blog and post. Please let us know if you have further thoughts.

Btw, with regard to the comment above, there are a number of other differences b/w Google Answers and Wondir that are striking. Not only is Wondir free, but it doesn't require registration to use, it gives you access to over 1 million questions and answers already archived instantly, it allows other people to answer your question online instantly by IM, email or post, and the people that answer are generally experts or experienced in the topic your question falls into, rather than general Internet researchers that are highly skilled at looking up the question somewhere else. In this sense, Wondir's not just a place to get information, but to have an ongoing dialogue or advice-session with someone out there who has some knowledge to offer, or to share your knowledge with someone else.

The Daily Wondir is right, Wondir is about a lot more than just quotes. Wondir tends to be both a Q&A search engine and a live research/advice community, with community being the key word.

At Wondir you have people who can gve you a quick post answering "What is the name of the guy the manicures horses hoof?" Or we can spend time talking to you about personal problems that require more than just a simple yes or no answer. Google Answers was good for a time for researching known and written about facts. But what about the 11 yr old who's parents are fighting all the time and probably getting divorced, she's at a point of depression that shewants to either runaway or kill herself? Can Google answer her problems? No, that takes a personal touch. Someone caring enough to take the time to help another person, to go above and beyond the "points" and "rating" that Wondir offers.

This is what makes Wondir a true web Wondir! Caring people.
